Is there any difference between brand and trademark?

Quite often the word "brand" is used as a synonym to the term "trademark". However, there is quite a difference between these two terms. Usually, a trademark is a symbol that officially represents somthing, most often a company or a business, by their offered goods or services. A brand name, on the other hand, is a name that a company chooses to represent one of their products.
